We provide a specialist Low Vision Clinic, to assist
patients who are sight impaired. This is a private service, as there is no
provision in the Leeds area for NHS low vision services to be supplied within
community optical practices.
The nearest NHS service is based at St James's Hospital,
with a satellite clinic at Wharfedale General Hospital. However, many people
prefer the personal care that we offer. Many referrals come from
ophthalmic consultants at the Yorkshire Eye Hospital.
The service is provided by Denise Collier. Denise is an
Optometrist wish
specialist expertise in this area. She works three days in the practice, and for
the remaining two days a week is based at St James's hospital, Leeds. She
carries out a full assessment of your visual requirements, and gives advise on
lighting, illuminated magnifiers and other Low Vision Aids. The practice stocks
a large number of magnifiers. These can be borrowed and tried at home to assess
their suitability before being purchased.
