Kathryn Stott was born in Fleetwood, Lancashire, but defected to Yorkshire at
eighteen to
study Ophthalmic Optics at Bradford University, graduating in 1977. She became a
Fellow of the College of Optometrists in 1979, and immediately joined
Shakespeare & Collinge, as this practice was then known. For the next ten
years her working week was divided between the practice and the Eye Clinic of
Bradford Royal Infirmary, where she gained valuable experience. For the past ten
years she has worked full time in the practice, first as a partner, and in 1996 took over full ownership of the practice when Mr. Shakespeare
retired and Mr. Collinge moved to Cumbria.
Kath is a former President of the Yorkshire Optical Society, She is an examiner for the
British College of Optometrists and
an assessor for Continuous Education submissions.
Optometric Interests: Glaucoma: belongs to the Bradford Glaucoma Monitoring
Scheme. Contact Lenses: especially varifocal lenses for the over 45
age group; is a member of the British Contact Lens
Association. Eyecare in the
Developing World: is a member of
Vision Aid Overseas
and has been on several
trips to West Africa and one trip to Vietnam with this charity. Kath was the
Team Leader for the trip to Vietnam and she is was the Team Leader for a VAO group
who visited Ethiopia in February 2003.
Her last project was to Sierra Leone in April 2006.
