Contact Lenses

We are a specialist contact lens practice.

Our primary goal in providing contact lens care is to ensure the health of your eyes. We aim to provide a lifetime of comfortable, clear vision with contact lenses. We are happy to discuss the relative merits of all types of contact lenses with our patients, and offer a free evaluation and one hour trial for anyone considering contact lenses. Following this, lenses can be evaluated for a week for a small fee before a decision is made.

We have extensive experience in fitting disposable, toric, gas permeable, bifocal, keratoconic and post surgical contact lenses. Denise Collier's hospital experience is invaluable when applied to the more difficult cases.

Our Lensplan scheme provides a package of ongoing aftercare and frequent replacement lenses,  paid for by monthly Direct Debit. The fee for our most popular 2 weekly replacement lens is £23 a month. This includes all aftercare, lenses and solutions, an annual eye examination and  discounts off spectacles and accessories

Unlike the optical chains, we are not restricted to "own brands" but can provide lenses from all leading manufacturers, enabling us to provide the ideal lens for each patient. These include Acuvue, Bausch & Lomb, CibaVision and CooperVision due to our longstanding relationships with these companies, we often have new products six months before they go on general release.

There have been many new developments in contact lenses over the last couple of years. The biggest breakthrough is the use of Silicon Hydrogel material for soft lenses, offering improved comfort and breathability for the eyes. Multifocal contact lenses for the over 45's have also improved, driven by a demand from patients who have worn lenses for many years, and wish to continue into their 50,s. 60's and even 70's. (Kathryn Stott wears B&L PureVision multifocal lenses herself and is a big fan).

The optometrist will usually discuss suitable contact lenses options at your routine eye examination, and all our receptionists have a good knowledge of products, but please do ask if you require any information or advise.
